200 Foot Steps to Heaven

There's Nothing Like The Beach

Just 200 foot steps from inn to toes in the sand–now that's what we call a beach getaway. Our stretch of beach is one of the few that has not seen any erosion. And it's not at the bottom of tall sand dune that requires 100-step staircase to access. Just stroll down our lane and walk onto the shore.

It's All On The Menu

Restaurants & Cafes

Harbor Country has become a food destination, running the gamut of very casual to fine dining.

Bill and the team take the testing of our local restaurants seriously and try to eat out as often as possible to stay current with menu selections and new openings. One of our favorites is Red Arrow Roadhouse, a five minute stroll from the Inn. It's informal and a gem.

In town, Timothy's is our top choice for special occasions and romantic dinners. The seafood is simply outstanding!

Breweries, Distillery & Wineries

Libations

Looking to taste your way through? Harbor Country is packed with taste makers ready for your palate. With three breweries minutes from the Inn dehydration is not a risk. Go rustic at Greenbush, or if you want a wider variety, try the brand new Ghost Isle Brewery.

Beer not your thing? Don't worry, Union Pier may have personally supplied Chicago with libations during Prohibition. Nothing beats hipster Journeyman Distillery. They make great drinks, and have mouth-watering bites to accompany them.

Awaken Your Senses

Arts & Entertainment

A lively arts and entertainment scene provides the backdrop for lots of things to do. Shop for one-of-a-kind art and antiques or visit local shopkeepers who can help you find that perfect gift.

The Acorn Theatre hosts live performing arts with groups from Chicago. Expect everything from open mike night, to jazz and blues.

We're big supporters of The Vickers Theatre, a 109-year-old small town cinema that was once a stable. They feature independent, documentary, foreign language films and first-run summer blockbusters. Near and dear to Bill's heart–they proudly serve popcorn with REAL BUTTER and nostalgic movie theater candy.

Need to return home with something special? Harbor Country has unique shops that are the perfect hunting grounds.

Abigail Heche offers classic jewelry, quilts, and elegant clothing. For something a little more mainstream, Hummingbird Fashions offers a large selection at non-boutique prices. Looking for home decor? Enter the 6,000 square foot Blue Moon Vintage Market and get digging!

Hike, Fish, Surf, Kayak & More

Nature & Outdoors

Harbour Country has nature in all her glory–in forests, marshes, bluffs and on the water. The Chamber website has an exhaustive list of places to kayak, hike, fish, surf, bird watch and so much more.

One of the our favorites is The Galien River County Park in New Buffalo. It features a tree canopy walkway that leads to a 60-ft high overlook tower–the views are just breathtaking.

Don't miss Sawyer's Warren Dunes State Park. Dune formations rise 240 feet above the lake with 3 miles of Lake Michigan beaches, six miles of hiking trails and is open year-round.
